Jen Chen
Product, AI & Privacy Counsel
What I do
I advise high-growth technology companies on product, privacy, AI governance, security, and regulatory matters. My sweet spot is working directly with founders, executives, product, engineering, and security teams as embedded outside counsel. I draw on both technical and legal experience to navigate complex issues at the intersection of technology, business, and regulation.
About me
I am a technology lawyer with almost twenty years of experience across major law firms, public companies, and high-growth technology companies. Most recently, I was the head of product, privacy, and IP legal at Cursor. Before that, I led the product, privacy, IP, regulatory, and litigation legal functions at Vercel. I was also the second member of the legal team at Notion, where I built the product and IP legal functions.
My legal career has also included roles at Salesforce, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Oracle, as well as private practice experience as an IP litigator at WilmerHale and Covington & Burling.
Before becoming a lawyer, I earned a degree in computer science from Berkeley and worked for six years as a software engineer.
